Make it so

Real pleasure to work on a project for an old family friend.

I was flattered to be asked to help out my oldest friend’s brother, Damian, with the branding for his driving school. I’ve known him for an eternity and it was a joy to work with him and help create an identity for him. He’d already come up with a name ‘Engage’ which on further questioning had come about from his love of Star Trek:The Next Generation. Damian needed a logo that would work on the side of his car and, on a rooftop learner driver box as well as the usual stationery and social media channels.

The reverse E on the bottom right of the design had initially made me chuckle but the more I looked at it the more I liked it

We went back and forth over a few suggestions and one in particular was beginning to stand out but we needed to make it work for all of his needs. The gearbox design had started out as a sketch and the reverse E on the bottom right of the design had initially made me chuckle but the more I looked at it the more I liked it and fortunately for me Damian liked it too.

I used Eurostile for the font and we set two versions, one with the gear knob larger on top and the second as a device at the end of a landscape logo. I’m pleased with how they work both individually and as part of an overall brand on Damian’s car.

So how does it look?

The final car graphics had to be tweaked to fit the roof box style that Damian wanted and also for the sticker panel to fit on his new Ford Fiesta but the end result still looks great.

Damian can be contacted on www.facebook.com/Engagedrivingschool/ should you require driving lessons.
